Chrysler, Schmysler ... give us a brake!
The stories you will read here are actual situations that were related to us by the vehicle owners themselves about the things that happen, or are told to women and men by garage personnel to allay their fears:......to make you feel that they are doing you a great favour by being Mr.NICE GUY. Right? Wrong!!
These stories were not very funny at the time, and some show just how uncaring and irresponsible garages or even dealers can be.
January 24th was not a date for my " claim to fame", in fact it was a "claim " I was trying to make against a Chrysler dealership. It all started with my late model Cherokee Jeep.
Chrysler were having a lot of trouble with their Bendix 10 ABS brake system, something I had tried to tell them every time I brought my vehicle back after repeated 100% brake losses. They kept telling me they couldn't find anything wrong. They did, however, change some parts; that did not cure anything!
The first time was when my wife started the vehicle up to drive it into the garage; luckily I had 4 old tires along the back wall. These were the only things that stopped the vehicle - the brakes certainly didn't!
These total brake failures would happen anywhere, anytime, and without the yellow warning light coming on. The fifth time was the scariest!
Coming down a hill, my whole family, including me, could have been wiped out. Chrysler Canada did not seem to care one iota that we have had five 100% brake failures, three of these being very close escapes from having terrible accidents.
As far as the brake loss on the hill, their suggestion was that " I descend hills in a lower gear if I am not confident with my ABS brake system. " They did check the brakes again. For this we waited 7 weeks to have our brakes fixed, nothing found! Within 24 hours of picking the vehicle up - another 100% brake failure.
I cannot understand why they simply have not removed the total braking system, and replaced it with all new parts. Our problems are still ongoing with Chrysler. I am confident that there is still something drastically wrong and am trying more and more to convince Chrysler of this. I just hope I stay alive long enough to see it concluded amicably.
Name withheld, for obvious reasons.
